LAST BLOG!

Thanks to all who've posted. This is the last article of the semester. This one's a pretty short essay-- and a little difficult, but I really enjoyed it when I read it. Hope you do, too.
Have a wonderful break!

Next Post

This one isn't quite so direct as the others-- when answering, think about the circumstances under which the town had disappeared and the reactions of former residents or others living in the area. Consider what your reaction might be if this was the town where you grew up, had a business, or raised a family. Heavy stuff.

sorry for the late update!

Here's your next blog post-- you'll have until Sunday to comment for 1 point. This article is about the sorry state of college writing! Is the author fair? Unfair? Can it really be all this bad? (From my own experience, it's not this bad. This guy's got some gems.) Discuss it.

Extra Credit Post

Hi Classes, this one's available for 1 point of extra credit-- the topic was inspired by a classmate's post on a public blog, and this is an interesting issue in education today. Are the SATs necessary? Are they a fair measure of intelligence? Of potential?

Totally unnecessary, unrequired post.

If you hadn't guessed from the title of this post, this is NOT the article you need to comment on for Monday. This article talks about Levitttown, PA ( built by the same family of builders/developers who made Levittown, NY, the "model suburb" I brought up in class) and its attitudes during the 2008 campaign and election. You do not need to comment on this article. However, since it relates to the article we discussed Friday, I thought some of you might be interested, and if you'd like to comment, I'll accept it for 5 points of extra credit.

The post you must comment on for Monday is the one before this one, labeled "Third Post."

Third post

Hi Class--
Great discussion so far! You've done a good job of stating your positions and defending them. Keep it up. Next topic: Talk Radio.

Hi class,
I've seen your comments from the first post. Good job thus far! Here's your second article. So, what do you think?

First Post

Hi, Class. Please establish an account so we can get started. If you already have a personal Blogger account, I'd suggest getting one for use in this class, unless you have no objections to using the one you already have. It's totally up to you. This is address of the first story we'll read:

Please give a two paragraph response to the article and the comments of your peers. I know I don't have to tell you to be polite to each other, but I'm going to do it anyway.

If anyone has suggestions for future topics, let me know via email. Good luck!
